Hello Students & Families!
Welcome to Health in room 139 at WIS! I am very eager for the 2019-2020 school year. This year we will be learning many crucial and exciting topics in class. I believe that health education is an essential part of student learning.
I teach skills based lessons that focus on developing personal life skills such as decision making, critical thinking, self-reflection and goal setting. Some units covered for 5th and 6th grade include...Personal Health/Wellness, Effective Communication, Refusal Skills, Stress/Coping, Values, Tobacco/Electronic Cigarettes, Physical, Emotional and Social Changes of Puberty and many more.
I encourage families to talk with their students at home about what they are learning at school and share their own values and beliefs with them. I stay after school on Wednesdays from 2:35-3:20 if students ever need extra help. I ask that students come prepared to class with a notebook, folder, pencil, and a positive attitude! :)
I look forward to learning more about you all. I know it is going to be a wonderful year at WIS!! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
I wish you a happy & healthy school year!
